Getting started

Add a book by search, by scanning its cover, or by entering its title and author yourself. Set your daily reading goal and start a timer from Focus. Log your current page when you finish. Lea tracks your reading; it does not supply ebooks or book content.

Free and Lea Pro

Lea's free tier includes up to three saved books, book search and cover scanning, reading timers, daily goals/streaks, notes/ratings, basic progress, and local export/restore. Lea Pro is an optional one-time App Store purchase for unlimited books, distraction blocking, four ambient sounds and full insights. There is no subscription.

Open Settings > Lea Pro or choose a Pro feature to see the current price in your storefront. Restore Purchases on the Pro screen checks the Apple Account used for the purchase. Existing library records remain accessible if Pro is unavailable; a free library over the three-book limit cannot add another book until it is within the limit or Pro is restored.

Purchase or restore problems

Check your connection and that you use the Apple Account that purchased Lea Pro. Choose Restore Purchases in Lea. If Apple is still approving a pending purchase, Pro becomes available once it is approved. Canceling a purchase does not charge you. Apple's receipt and account determine purchase ownership; importing a Lea backup does not restore a purchase. Contact Apple for App Store billing or refund requests: https://support.apple.com/billing.

Distraction blocking

Blocking requires Lea Pro, Screen Time authorization and a supported physical iPhone/iPad. In Focus, select individual Kindle, Books or other reading apps under Always allow reading apps before enabling blocking. Those apps remain available while distraction protection is active. Some essential system services remain available. A break pauses the reading timer while protection remains on. Finish the session to release protection early. You can revoke Lea's Screen Time authorization in iOS Settings.

Lea provides guidance for setting up Apple's Focus mode; it cannot activate Focus or select allowed callers for you. Configure these in iOS Settings.

Cover scan or search problems

Use good lighting and keep the book's title and author visible. You can choose an existing photo instead of using the camera. Review and edit the recognized text before searching. The photo is processed on your device and is not uploaded. Online results and covers depend on Open Library and may be incomplete. Edit the book details before saving, or add a book manually if lookup is unavailable.

Reading reminders

Open Settings → Reading reminders to choose an optional reading schedule or social-app reminder. Scheduled reminders need notification permission. Social-app reminders also need Screen Time authorization and an individual-app selection. You can disable either reminder in Lea and change permissions in iOS Settings. Restoring a backup leaves reminders disabled until you enable them again on that device.

Keep a backup

Lea stores your reading records locally and does not automatically sync them to other devices. In Settings, export a backup to a location you control. Restore that file to transfer your library. Keep a backup before deleting/resetting Lea or changing devices. Restoring does not restart old reading sessions or reactivate blocking.
